My Casual Thanksgiving Table for Four

Casual Thanksgiving table featuring pumpkin centerpiece and light blue and mustard Fall decor.

Even with no guests this year, I decided to set our Thanksgiving dinner table for four. I have always enjoyed decorating our home for friends and family, but with current restrictions on gatherings, we could not invite anyone over. Since it was important to me to celebrate without spending too much, I came up with this muted color palette and collected items from my home to style this casual tablescape. I love that I was able to create something special just for me, my husband (and two pups) to enjoy.

Inspiration

Our wood table from Pier 1 served as the perfect backdrop for all my Thanksgiving table decor. I left the existing woven runner down the middle and used it as inspiration for my color palette. I love non-traditional color schemes and this one makes an easy fall favorite. The pale aquas and muted mustards are reminiscent of the sky and foliage on a crisp autumn day and the mixed metallic elements add a modern touch. The end result is a fresh take on fall colors!

Centerpiece

The centerpiece for my Thanksgiving table included ceramic and wood pumpkins from Home Goods, copper votives, and a gold polka dot vase filled with faux billy balls. I love how the polka dots and billy balls contrast with the striped runner and add a touch of whimsy.

Place Settings

PLATES

I don’t have fancy dinnerware for special occasions so I just used our everyday dishes and flatware. These coupe dinner and salad plates are timeless and nicely transition from casual to more formal dining experiences. I’ve had this set for years and I love how they’ve held up with no chips or scratches. I topped them with these witty tidbit plates that are perfect for appetizers or dessert.

WINE GLASSES

To keep the look casual and uncluttered, I opted to use just one wine glass at each place setting. The wine glasses were a handmade gift from a friend. The bottoms are covered in gold glitter and nicely complement the gold and copper accents on the table.

COLORED NAPKINS

To tie together the color scheme, I used dusty blue and mustard linen napkins (similar colors linked here) and made yarn napkin rings to match.

DIY Yarn Napkin Rings

The colors and pattern of the napkin rings were inspired by the table runner. I made them by wrapping different colors of yarn and twine around cardboard tubes in an alternating fashion. The cream felt leaves outlined with gold glitter 3D paint are a cheerful nod to the season.

Bud Vase Place Cards

Last but not least, I used bud vases as place cards. I added sprigs of rosemary and sage and tied on a bow with baker’s twine. I used a chalk marker to write our names (pups included!) on the vases. It’s such an easy way to add greenery and a personal touch to each place setting!

Since we haven’t been able to dine at restaurants, this was such a fun way to create a fine dining experience at home! We ordered our Thanksgiving dinner from a local restaurant and treated the pups to a homemade turkey meatloaf dinner. We ended the night on the couch eating pie, watching Netflix and video chatting with family. The pups passed out in our laps! It was the most relaxed Thanksgiving ever!

I love designing and styling tablescapes and I hope I’ve inspired you to get creative, no matter the occasion. Even though this year has been a tough one, I am still thankful for all the blessings in my life. I’m especially grateful to be able to create and share my joy with you! Thanks for following along!

Happy Thanksgiving Friends!
